The Right Middle and the Inferior Pulmonary Vein Forming a Common Trunk

چکیده
We herein report a rare surgical case of the right middle lobe vein draining into the inferior pulmonary vein. The anatomical abnormalities in pulmonary veins can have a serious impact on complications during pulmonary surgery. Surgeons must be aware of any variation in the pulmonary vessels, and preoperative assessment of pulmonary venous anomalies is important during pulmonary surgery.

Transection of left common pulmonary vein during left upper lobectomy: how should it be reconstructed?
A common trunk of the left pulmonary vein is an anatomical variation in the pulmonary vessels and may be incidentally transected during left upper lobectomy. Difficulty in reconstruction of the left inferior vein often requires completion pneumonectomy. We herein describe a patient with lung cancer in the left upper lobe of the lung. His common trunk of the left pulmonary vein was incidentally ...

In this investigation, 25 adult New Zealand White rabbits randomly selected from both sexes and studied.Coloured latex injection and corrosion cast methods were applied on the materials. This study was carried out to disclose the distribution of the cardiac veins of the New Zealand White rabbits. The veins that drain the heart were found to be the great cardiac vein, the middle cardiac vein, th...
متن کاملA surgical case of lung cancer in a patient with the left superior and inferior pulmonary veins forming a common trunk.
The anatomical abnormalities of the pulmonary veins may have a serious impact on complications that may arise during pulmonary lobectomy. We present a surgical case of left lung cancer in a patient, who was a 69-year-old male, with the left superior and inferior pulmonary veins forming a common trunk outside the pericardium. In this present case, because of extensive adhesions, incomplete lobul...
متن کاملAnomalous pulmonary venous drainage of the right lung.
An unusual case of anomalous drainage of the right lung is described. The right superior pulmonary vein drained into the superior vena cava, and the middle and lower pulmonary veins drained into the inferior vena cava. Repair was achieved by creating a pericardial baffle that drained the inferior vein and the orifice of the superior vena cava through a surgically created atrial septal defect. T...
متن کاملPersistent left superior vena cava
Persistent left superior vena cava (PLSVC) is the most common congenital malformation of thoracic venous return and is present in 0.3 to 0.5% of individuals in the general population. This heart specimen was dissected from a 35-year-old male cadaver whose cause of death was determined as non-cardiac. The heart was examined and we found a PLSVC draining into the coronary sinus. The right superio...
